“The ramblings and grumblings of author Ad Hudler”

Tropical Diary: Post #591

Do you ever buy something on impulse and years later wonder why? Well, here's one of my stranger purchases, which I recently re-discovered on my patio after pruning an arbicola bush that had been covering it for years:

I mean, really, what was I thinking? It's not even cute. Maybe that's how I was feeling that day: pinched and afraid and wanting to keep my eyes closed. I'm surprised I haven't seen this fellow in my nightmares.

Do we call him "Elephant Man?"

A reader emailed to me:
Because it looks like he's grimacing on the toilet ... we should call him "Sh--head."

I think Sh--head is a lovely term of endearment. I second the motion!

(Oh. Can I second it if I first-ed it?)

If you are tired of Sh--head, I'd love for him to live in my garden.

Oh, man, are you SERIOUS? I'll be at the Pierce's Sat. night for practice Thanksgiving. If Shithead appears on their doorstep, I'll know you weren't kidding.

Oh, but what am I thinking? Who would give up custody of Shithead? Ah, just a pipedream, I guess.

BTW, my daughter, Maggie, had a less profane name for him. She called him "baby."
