The new toilet is here!
Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Okay, guys, you might remember when I blogged a few weeks ago about the problem I was having with my vintage 1951 toilet. Well, I looked far and wide for a replacement...and there were no burgundy toilets to be found anywhere. (Sorry news for my reader who has been looking for the same-colored toilet.) I did, however, find three shades of gray at Kohler, and I present to you: the color "cashmere."

And, look! I got to re-use that awesome toilet seat. See how it brings in the burgundy sink? I think it works, don't you? I said, "DON'T YOU?!?!?"

The model had been discontinued, but the detectives at Panther Plumbing managed to find a tank somewhere in a warehouse in Canada, and the bowl somewhere in Mexico. So ... we have renamed this bathroom: The NAFTA bathroom.

my wife doesn't like the old seat on this toilet. She says I should put on the gray one that came with the toilet. Anyone?

I agree with your wife. The old seat is a bit nauseating - kinda reminds me of fossilized fruit (fruit in jello) - and not in a good way ! Ick !

You have a problem with dead, dried seahorses as decoration?

I have you agree with your wife, Ad. That seat is hideous. If you can't bear to part with it, maybe you should glue a mirror to the inside of the seat itself and use it over the burgundy sink???

I cannot believe that I am willingly posting a comment about a toilet! I must say, I won't look at my own the same. Damn plain old bisque! That seat is something. I am speechless. I think your work here is done. There is nothing more you can do with this. ...maybe as a Valentine treat to the wife-get rid of the seat??

Was not going to wade in here until I read Joy's comment. Kinda reminds me of George Eastman's suicide note quote: "My work is done. Why wait?"

from Linda on facebook:
Linda made a comment about your posted item:

"The seat represents everything that is old Florida. You CANNOT get another one like it. AND you are probably the only one using that bathroom, right? AND Ad If you take the seat off you'll end up tossing it or giving it away, later you'll regret that. I say keep it...use it...love it."

And Stephanie on facebook:
"Gorgeousimo! And I'm so glad the famous seat is still intact -- perfect : )"

Ad again: I think the native Floridians are showing their true colors here!
